Explosion at Petrochemical Facility in Northeastern Iran

An explosion occurred at a petrochemical facility in Khorasan, northeastern Iran, with no reports of injuries at this time.

The Iranian Student News Agency reported that the governor of Bojnord, Gholam Reza Avazadeh, stated, "Fortunately, the explosion at the Khorasan Petrochemical Complex did not result in any casualties." Avazadeh explained that the smoke rising from the explosion is related to thick smoke from a steam boiler explosion and is not related to ammonia, assuring that there is no cause for concern. No further details about the cause of the explosion were provided.

It is noted that last year, Iran witnessed a series of explosions around sensitive facilities, including military, nuclear, and industrial sites. The most recent incident was in November, when a fire broke out inside a petrochemical complex at the Imam Khomeini port in the southwestern part of the country. Among the most significant explosions was the one at the Natanz nuclear facility, which is Iran's largest for uranium enrichment, manufacturing, and testing of centrifuges.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that a few days ago, long-range Iranian missiles fell near a commercial ship in the Indian Ocean, approximately 160 kilometers from the U.S. aircraft carrier "Nimitz," according to Fox News.
