Russian President Vladimir Putin is in quarantine after COVID-19 cases were detected among his associates, the Kremlin announced in a statement on Tuesday. The Kremlin stated that Putin is in "very good health" and has not contracted COVID-19, but he has decided to self-isolate. In a phone call with Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon, Putin said that "due to the detection of COVID-19 cases among his associates, he will be quarantined for a certain period" and will not participate in person in a regional summit scheduled for later this week in Tajikistan, according to the Kremlin. On Monday, Putin met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who arrived in Moscow for his first visit following his victory in the presidential elections held in May. On the same day, Putin also met with athletes and participated in military exercises before the decision to enter self-isolation, as per the Kremlin.
