U.S.-Led Coalition Downs Drone Over Syria

The U.S. military stated that a fighter jet from the U.S.-led coalition shot down a drone in eastern Syria on Saturday after it was deemed a threat. Coalition spokesman Colonel Wayne Marotto stated, "The coalition aircraft successfully engaged and shot down a drone... near the Green Village base." The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) expressed deep concern last month over attacks on American personnel in Syria and Iraq after diplomats and U.S. troops were targeted in three attacks involving rockets and drones, resulting in injuries to two American soldiers.
