Recently, discussions have intensified regarding the imminent so-called Gulf breakthroughs concerning Lebanon. Diplomatic circles suggest that Gulf breakthroughs on the Lebanese front will start to become apparent very soon. It is anticipated that the middle of next week will mark the translation of the recent Gulf positive developments, particularly from Saudi Arabia, with next Wednesday possibly ushering in these changes alongside the potential return of Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari to Beirut.
The same diplomatic circles also indicate that if the Saudi ambassador returns as expected next Wednesday, it will likely pave the way for the return of other ambassadors from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, thus ending the diplomatic freeze with Lebanon that has persisted since late October of last year. These anticipated breakthroughs reflect the efforts made over the past months on various fronts, with Paris playing a notable role. Ultimately, these efforts resulted in positive outcomes tied to the statement issued by Prime Minister Najib Mikati, which was welcomed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
