Minister of Public Works in the caretaker government, Ali Hamieh, announced that "today, August 1, 2022, the Port of Beirut is operating as usual and vigorously. As we said before: the collapse of the silos does not hinder work there, nor does it slow down the process of activating it. Additionally, it will not affect our firm decision to reconstruct it, as it is a vital facility for Lebanon, and one of its important gateways that enhances its intended role on the Mediterranean coast."
