Russian President Vladimir Putin signed two decrees on Sunday regarding the approval of the Russian naval doctrine and the military fleet charter. This took place during a ceremony held at the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg in Peter and Paul Fortress, as part of the celebrations for Russian Navy Day. The naval doctrine was amended in response to new challenges and the current geopolitical situation in the world "to ensure the implementation of Russia's national maritime policy," according to the decree. As a result, the previous naval doctrine, adopted on June 17, 2015, is now considered void. The decree related to the military fleet charter included amendments to the internal service charters and protection services of the Russian Armed Forces. Both documents entered into force upon signing.
