Attack in France... and Death of the Perpetrator

On Friday, the suspect in the stabbing of a police officer in the French city of Nantes was killed due to injuries sustained during his arrest, following a gunfight that left one police officer wounded. French security forces had apprehended the suspect after deploying 240 personnel, including special forces, to pursue him. Earlier on Friday, a French security source reported that the police officer suffered serious injuries after being stabbed multiple times in the "La Chapelle-sur-Erdre" area near Nantes. Sources indicated that the officer's condition was critical, noting that the assailant had managed to escape. Immediately, a manhunt was launched for the assailant, involving 80 police officers and a helicopter from French security forces to locate the suspect who attacked the municipal police officer with a knife. Our correspondent reported that the suspect's vehicle was found. Minutes later, a French security source mentioned reports of a second armed attack in the Nantes area. It was unclear whether the second attack was connected to the assault on the police officer or if it was a separate incident.
