Sources indicated that the officer's condition was critical, noting that the assailant had managed to escape. Immediately, a manhunt was launched for the assailant, involving 80 police officers and a helicopter from French security forces to locate the suspect who attacked the municipal police officer with a knife. Our correspondent reported that the suspect's vehicle was found. Minutes later, a French security source mentioned reports of a second armed attack in the Nantes area. It was unclear whether the second attack was connected to the assault on the police officer or if it was a separate incident.
