Lavrov in Algeria for Unannounced Visit

According to "Agence France-Presse," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is visiting Algeria in an unannounced trip, where he is expected to meet with his counterpart Ramtane Lamamra and President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It was mentioned that "the visit comes on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Russia." Neither the Russian nor Algerian foreign ministries had announced the visit beforehand, and Lavrov's agenda for this week did not include any visit to Algeria or any other country in the Maghreb region.
