The public water authority in the Hasakah province announced today the resumption of operations at the Alouk Water Station after it was halted by Turkish forces for seven days, preventing the workers from entering.
The General Director of the Public Water Authority, engineer Mahmoud Al-Akla, stated in a statement to SANA that 21 wells from the station have been activated, and the filling of storage tanks in the Alouk area has begun. Subsequently, water will be pumped to the tanks in the Al-Hamra area, and once they are filled, water will be distributed to subscribers in the city of Hasakah starting tomorrow according to the implemented rationing schedule. The Hasakah governor confirmed that water is expected to reach the Al-Hamra tanks in the city by 7 AM. Turkish forces had previously halted the operation of the Alouk station, which supplies water to Hasakah city and the western countryside, for the eighteenth time since November 2019.
