Do You Suffer from Migraine? One Dose of This Medication is Sufficient

Recent research has revealed that some medications used to treat conditions such as severe depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders may also benefit those suffering from migraines. One unique aspect of psychedelic drugs, such as psilocybin, is that taking a single moderate dose can lead to long-term therapeutic benefits for individuals suffering from certain conditions, including depression, anxiety, and migraines.

New research published recently in the journal “Neurological Treatments” suggests that there are “significant benefits” of psilocybin in treating people with migraines. The study indicated that preliminary evidence in this regard is promising and could open new avenues for research into migraine treatment, which is often chronic and debilitating for many worldwide.

Migraine affects more than 10 percent of the population in the United States and ranks sixth in the world among diseases described as “debilitating.” Current medications can alleviate migraine symptoms, but their effectiveness varies from person to person. Even effective medications can lead to side effects.

Migraine medications can either be preventive or abortive, with evidence suggesting that some drugs like psilocybin may help prevent or relieve migraines. Additionally, chronic migraines can be managed through exercises such as yoga or taking hot baths.
