The Lebanese Presidency issued a statement regarding the remarks made by Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe to Al-Hurra channel. The statement pointed out that some of the comments made by the Foreign Minister last night provoked reactions aimed at harming the fraternal relations between Lebanon and the sister Gulf countries, which was evident in the political stances issued alongside the coordinated media campaign that accompanied it, despite the clarification provided by the minister that he did not name the Gulf countries in his remarks.
The Lebanese Presidency emphasized in the statement the depth of fraternal relations between Lebanon and the sister Gulf countries, primarily Saudi Arabia, and its commitment to maintaining and strengthening these relations in all fields. It considered that what was issued by the Foreign Minister last night reflects his personal opinion and does not, in any way, represent the position of the Lebanese state or its President, General Michel Aoun, who is keen to reject anything that harms sisterly and friendly countries in general, and Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states in particular.
