Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that his country hopes to maximize cooperation with Egypt and Gulf states "on the basis of an approach that benefits everyone," while Ankara works to repair its relations with Cairo and some Gulf countries after years of tension. Turkey has been striving in recent months to mend relations with regional powers. It sent a delegation to Cairo for talks, and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held discussions in Riyadh with his Saudi counterpart. Erdogan told TRT news channel, "We have great potential for cooperation with Egypt in a wide range of areas from the Eastern Mediterranean to Libya." He added that he "loves" the Egyptian people "and thus we are determined to resume this process."
