The U.S. State Department announced on Monday a reward for information regarding a senior Hezbollah leader. The "Rewards for Justice" program tweeted today that it is offering $7 million for information on Talal Hamieh, head of Hezbollah's external security office, which is backed by Iran. It added that Hamieh is responsible for the operations of the terrorist organization's cells worldwide.
The State Department explained that the party maintains organized cells around the globe, and the external security department of Hezbollah is responsible for planning and coordinating them, as well as executing terrorist attacks outside of Lebanon. It also noted that attacks carried out by this office primarily targeted Israelis and Americans, although it did not provide any details on dates or locations of those assaults.
It is worth mentioning that the Rewards for Justice program also offered a $5 million reward in August 2021 for information about another Hezbollah militia leader named Khalil Yusuf Harb, for his involvement in smuggling large sums of money to the Houthis. The U.S. regularly offers rewards for credible and actionable information leading to the leaders of terrorist organizations, including Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda, and ISIS.
