Twitter Develops New Feature to Organize Saved Tweets

The Twitter platform is working on a new folder option within the Bookmarks tab, allowing users to save tweets into a variety of specified categories or "groups," as the platform refers to them. This initiative is a beneficial addition for people who regularly save various tweets. The new process enables the creation of folders by category within the Bookmarks tab, allowing users to choose the folder or group they wish to save the tweet into. This can provide an easy way to keep track of different tweets of interest and may also point to the gradually evolving e-commerce tools on the platform. The folders offer another way to track products users might be interested in, which may help enhance shopping behavior.

Twitter has introduced a fundamental update on the e-commerce tools under development. Bruce Falck, Twitter's Head of Revenue Product, explained, “We know that people come to Twitter to engage with brands and discuss their favorite products.” He added that some companies have developed creative ways to enable sales through Twitter, granting confidence in the power of combining real-time conversation with an engaged audience. One can easily imagine discovering and purchasing a new skincare product or trendy sneakers from a followed brand with just a few clicks.

The groups can serve a primary purpose here, similar to the groups feature on Instagram or saved pins on Pinterest. This essentially transforms the option into a virtual shopping list, while the ability to convert every saved tweet into a specific group can further enhance this functionality, alongside the overall benefit of allowing users to save their favorite tweets in different categories. Consequently, the folders appear to be a simple and effective way to improve interaction with saved tweets.

It is noted that the platform is developing a new subscription service called Twitter Blue, which costs $2.99 per month, and includes the feature to undo tweets. Twitter is working on a tiered subscription model, which is believed to mean a less cluttered premium experience for subscribers with higher subscriptions.
