Federal Councilor for Energy Simonetta Sommaruga confirmed that the energy situation is "critical" in Switzerland, which is negotiating with Germany and Italy to ensure its gas supplies for the upcoming winter, in light of reduced shipments from Russia.
In an interview with the newspaper "Blick," Minister Sommaruga stated, "Why are we facing a problem today? Because Russia has turned off the gas tap, and Switzerland is completely dependent on foreign countries for this type of energy."
She added, "The situation is serious. The Federal Council is aware of this – and not only since the war in Ukraine."
