Zaki: Syria's Return to the Arab League Requires Arab Consensus

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Hossam Zaki, revealed that "there is no specific date for Syria's membership to return to the League, and this matter requires Arab consensus." He clarified that "this consensus has not yet been fully achieved." During a television interview, he noted that "the issue is not far off, but it is also not as close as some may think, and there are many statements and positions from certain countries that have not joined this consensus, with each side having its own perspective." He added that "the matter has not been resolved, and therefore he cannot provide a specific timeframe for such an issue." The Arab League announced on Sunday that the next Arab summit will be held on November 1st and 2nd in Algeria. News agencies quoted the League as saying that "there are changes in the positions of some member states regarding Syria's return to the League, but they are not enough to create consensus."
