The White House announced that President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 again, two days after announcing his recovery from a previous infection with the virus, indicating that he will enter quarantine. U.S. presidential physician Kevin O'Connor stated that "Biden's COVID-19 test result was positive, suggesting a resurgence of the virus in his body, a phenomenon observed in a small percentage of patients treated with Paxlovid." He added that Biden has not experienced "the return of symptoms and still feels well," and therefore will not resume treatment. O'Connor noted that "the president's tests were negative on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, and Thursday morning, as well as Friday morning, but became positive on Saturday morning, and he will undergo quarantine."
