Six children from the same family, aged between 6 months and 11 years, were burned to death after a fire consumed their home in Oaxaca, southern Mexico, according to the regional prosecutor's office. The office reported that "the children's mother lit a gas stove in the morning and then went to the mill. When she returned, the fire had broken out in the house" where the children were present. The house where the children's bodies were found is located in Cuicuián de las Fierros, in an area of Oaxaca inhabited by Mixtec peoples, which the federal government considers one of the three most marginalized and poorest regions in Mexico.
