The Brazilian government announced that more than 100 people are missing or confirmed dead in the country due to landslides and floods resulting from heavy rains, which swept through several neighborhoods and towns in northeastern Brazil. The federal civil defense agency, responsible for emergency management, stated on Twitter that as of Sunday afternoon, 56 people had died in the state of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil, and another person died in the neighboring state of Alagoas. Additionally, 56 more people are missing in Pernambuco.
