The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati emphasized that "the Israeli enemy's attempts to create a new crisis by infringing on Lebanon's water resources and imposing a new reality in a disputed area—where Lebanon holds onto its rights—are extremely dangerous and could lead to tensions whose consequences no one can predict." He added in a statement: "From this standpoint, we warn against the repercussions of any incomplete steps before the resumption of the American mediator's mission, which has become a pressing necessity. We call on the United Nations and all concerned parties to address the situation and compel the Israeli enemy to stop its provocations." He concluded: "The solution lies in returning to negotiations based on the principle of not conceding any of Lebanon's full rights in its resources and waters."
