Moroccan Ashraf Ben Sharqi Leaves Zamalek, Bids Farewell to Fans with Touching Words

Moroccan star Ashraf Ben Sharqi announced his departure from Zamalek following the Cup final match, in which the white club defeated its rival Al Ahly with a score of 2-1. Ashraf Ben Sharqi released an official statement via his Facebook account, which read: "Thank you Zamalek, thank you Zamalek management, thank you Zamalek players, thank you to all the technical and medical staff and everyone I worked with, thank you very much to the Zamalek fans."

He continued, "I started the address from the end because I doubt I will reach this paragraph. The moment I hoped would never come has arrived. I cannot deny your kindness; you have supported me in times of ease and hardship. It has been three years full of titles and joy where I never felt like a stranger or a foreigner, but rather like a son of this honorable household."

He added, "But this is the way of life, goodbye to you all, from the youngest to the oldest member of the Zamalek family, and we shall return, God willing, to my second home. #LongLiveZamalek Ashraf Ben Sharqi."

Zamalek won the Egypt Cup by defeating Al Ahly with two goals to one during the match held on Thursday evening at the Cairo International Stadium. Zamalek's goals were scored by Zizo and Imam Ashour, while the goal for Al Ahly was scored by Hossam Hassan.
