Egypt: Body of Lebanese Artist Found in Apartment Bathroom

Lebanese artist Jean Pierre Haddad, a member of the Cairo Jazz band, was found dead in his apartment in the Sheikh Zayed area of Egypt. His colleagues discovered his body in the bathroom and reported it to the police. A report was filed about the incident, and investigative authorities were assigned to examine the scene and clarify the circumstances. The investigators ordered an autopsy for the artist, whose death is suspected to have been caused by "gas asphyxiation."

His colleagues alerted the police after going to the apartment to check on him due to his delay in arriving for the band rehearsal and not responding to phone calls. The deceased's sister and cousin arrived from Lebanon to coordinate with the Lebanese embassy to finalize investigation procedures and arrange for the repatriation of the body for burial in Lebanon.

In a related development, the government denied that the installation of natural gas lines for heaters has caused cases of asphyxiation among citizens recently.
