The Media and Communication Committee of the Free Patriotic Movement issued the following statement: "The Free Patriotic Movement welcomes the support for Lebanon mentioned in the Jeddah Summit statement and the pledges made by Arab countries for assistance. It believes that Lebanon's benefit from any support cannot be realized without implementing the necessary reforms. The actual exit from the ongoing collapse lies in having a political will to execute a comprehensive reform program in finance and the economy. The Movement commends the statement's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and stability, reiterating that this must align with the Movement's stance on Lebanon's full rights to extract its gas and oil resources. It also aligns with the Movement's demand for the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, which would significantly alleviate the burden on the national economy.
The Movement emphasizes its commitment to fostering the best relations with Arab countries in a spirit of openness, cooperation, and mutual respect, seeking to keep Lebanon neutral from conflicts and disputes that do not pertain to it, and not to burden it with their consequences. We hope that this summit will serve as a positive opening for a comprehensive dialogue in the region that leads to the completion of the nuclear agreement, a genuine rapprochement between Iran and Gulf states, the reintegration of Syria into the Arab League, and a reliance on dialogue as the sole means to resolve conflicts and definitively move away from policies based on violence, wars, and sanctions, which have only brought harm and destruction."
