Army Commander General Joseph Aoun thanked the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his kind gesture towards the Lebanese army, as stated in a release from the Army Command - Guidance Directorate. He expressed gratitude for Qatar's announcement of a financial contribution of $60 million to support the Lebanese army.
Aoun praised "this valuable initiative that reflects the commitment of the State of Qatar to Lebanon, its people, and its army," affirming that "this assistance is designated to support the army personnel."
He noted that "the brotherly State of Qatar has always been proactive in standing by Lebanon, especially the army, having initiated approximately a year ago to send monthly food aid to the military establishment, amidst the hardships caused by the economic crisis in Lebanon."
