Most women may not realize that smoking marijuana can negatively impact the vagina and sexual life. In reality, smoking marijuana can adversely affect vaginal health, significantly influencing the quality of sexual relationships.
According to a recent study, smoking marijuana not only leads to dry mouth but also causes vaginal dryness and reduces vaginal lubrication. It is noteworthy that this finding was first observed in 2009 after a survey of 8,650 people in Australia, which aimed to explore any links between marijuana smoking and poor vaginal lubrication. Dr. Julie Holland, author of "Moody Bitches: The Truth About The Drugs You’re Taking, The Sleep You’re Missing, The Sex You’re Not Having, and What’s Really Making You Crazy," expressed concern about the time researchers spend investigating the effects of marijuana smoking on women's sexual health. Holland discovered that vaginal dryness, similar to dry mouth, results from the drying of the mucous membranes in the lining of the mouth, nose, and vagina. This vaginal dryness is indeed a side effect of smoking marijuana, and it affects sex as it can lead to severe pain and injuries during intercourse, especially if it is vigorous or prolonged.
