The wealth of billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk rose by about $4.63 billion last Friday, allowing Musk to reclaim his throne as the richest person in the world, according to Bloomberg’s billionaire index, which was reviewed by "Al Arabiya.net." Musk's net worth reached $198 billion, and it is likely to surpass $200 billion by the end of the day, as Tesla's stock continued to rise in pre-market trading, increasing by approximately 2.67% to $730.9 per share.
There is almost no difference between Musk's wealth and that of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose net worth also reached $198 billion after earning $3.73 billion last Friday. The number of billionaires whose wealth exceeds the $100 billion mark has increased to 10, with eight of them working in the technology sector, while two represent the consumer sector, including billionaire Warren Buffett from Berkshire Hathaway.
Additionally, American billionaires dominate the entire list of the top ten, with the exception of French billionaire Bernard Arnault, the largest shareholder in the famous French perfume company Louis Vuitton, whose wealth is estimated at around $162 billion, placing him third in the ranking.
Musk was not the highest-earning billionaire this year; the top of the earning chart included four billionaires who added $176 billion to their wealth this year. Bernard Arnault earned $47.3 billion, followed by Google co-founder Larry Page, who gained $46.3 billion, bringing his net worth to $129 billion. His company colleague Sergey Brin also added about $44.5 billion to his wealth, reaching $124 billion, while Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg saw his wealth grow to $141 billion after adding approximately $38 billion in 2021.
