German automaker BMW has revealed the world's first car capable of "changing its color" during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA. The vehicle, named BMW iX Flow, utilizes "electronic ink" technology, typically found in e-readers, to transform the car's exterior into a variety of patterns in shades of gray and white.
The car's colors are controlled through a smartphone app, but in the future, changes may also be managed via a button on the dashboard or even through hand gestures. Although the car displayed at CES can only change its color between gray and white, BMW plans to expand the technology to include a wider range of colors.
Stella Clarke emphasizes that the color-changing feature in the new car is useful during changing weather conditions. For example, on a hot sunny day, you can switch to white to reflect sunlight, while on a cold day, you can change to black to absorb heat and stay warm.
