Clashes Erupt in Libyan Capital Following Entry of Parallel Government

Reuters reported that clashes broke out in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, after the arrival of the parliament-appointed Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha in the city, despite a rival government refusing to cede power. The Libyan government appointed by the parliament announced late Monday night that it had entered Tripoli, the seat of the competing government led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, which is reluctant to relinquish control.

The media office of the parallel government stated, "The arrival of the Prime Minister of the Libyan government, Mr. Fathi Bashagha, accompanied by several ministers to the capital Tripoli, is in preparation to commence his government's work from there."
