How to Protect Ourselves from Parkinson's Disease?

Dr. Alexander Myasnikov announced that scientists are carefully studying the neurodegenerative disease Parkinson's and are developing methods to at least reduce the severity of its symptoms and slow its progression. Myasnikov points out in a television program that despite this, the causes of Parkinson's disease, also known as "shaking palsy," remain unclear to researchers.

He states that Parkinson's disease is a chronic condition affecting the elderly, causing damage and death of nerve cells in the brain. He adds that disturbing dreams could be a warning sign of Parkinson's disease. He emphasized the importance of early diagnosis of the disease, noting the currently known methods of prevention.

According to him, studies have shown that this disease rarely develops among coffee drinkers. It is also less common among individuals with high blood pressure and smokers. He mentions that the mortality rate from Parkinson's disease is higher among those engaged in intellectual work and with a high socio-economic status.

Furthermore, he recommends physical activity as a preventive measure against the disease. He also suggests that taking pain relief medications may offer protection from Parkinson's disease.
