Over-Caring for the Skin Threatens Cheilitis

The beauty portal "Haut.de" stated that incorrect or excessive skin care may lead to "cheilitis." The German portal explained that improper or excessive skin care involves using cosmetic products with various active ingredients, which damages the skin's natural protective barrier. This results in moisture loss, leading to dryness, flaking, and irritation.

Symptoms of cheilitis appear as a red rash initially, then spreading to the sides of the nose, corners of the mouth, and around the eyelids, accompanied by itching, burning, and a feeling of tightness in the skin.

It is advisable to consult a dermatologist immediately upon noticing these symptoms, as they can be quickly alleviated with medication. It is also crucial to completely refrain from using cosmetic products until the skin recovers.

In general, dermatologists recommend reducing the use of cosmetic products and avoiding exposing the skin to multiple active ingredients within a short period.
