U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced that ambiguity still surrounds the ongoing negotiations in Vienna between the parties originally signed to the nuclear agreement with Iran in an effort to revive the deal. Sullivan, speaking at the Aspen Security Forum on Friday, declined to describe the current level of negotiations, stating they are "in an unclear point." He explained, "We have seen a willingness from all parties, including the Iranians, to negotiate seriously about easing sanctions and returning to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action... But it remains unclear whether this will ultimately lead to an agreement in Vienna." This follows an announcement from Israeli Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, who, after a meeting with Sullivan, stated that Tel Aviv expects a new agreement between the U.S. and Iran regarding Tehran's nuclear program within the coming weeks.
