Arrival of Pfizer Vaccine in Beirut After a Year of First COVID-19 Case

Minister of Health in the caretaker government, Hamad Hassan, announced at the airport the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine in Beirut, one year after the first COVID-19 case appeared in Lebanon.

The National News Agency reported today that Minister Hassan expressed his satisfaction and happiness with the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine in Beirut, one year after the first COVID-19 case in Lebanon. He pointed out that the government was able, despite all challenges and with the support of the President of the Republic and the Speaker of the House, along with the assistance of the caretaker Prime Minister, to realize this dream. Hassan emphasized that the vaccine will be available to every Lebanese citizen without political or sectarian considerations and will reach every resident on Lebanese soil.

For her part, the Minister of Information in the caretaker government, Dr. Manal Abdul Samad Najd, confirmed that receiving the vaccine is safer than the risks of contracting the virus. She reassured journalists that they would be among the first to receive the vaccine, as they are the unsung heroes on the front lines.

In a related context, Professor Raef Reda, head of the "Social Medical Assembly," stated in a press release that a decision has been made to vaccinate with the Russian and Chinese vaccines, as they have been tested on millions of people worldwide without significant side effects, and their success rate exceeds 90%. Reda warned about the effectiveness of some vaccines against mutated viruses, questioning why Pfizer compelled the government to agree that it is not responsible for any serious side effects that may occur later.
