A statement was issued by the Association of Private Generator Owners: Private generator owners met this morning and agreed on several points to raise with the Ministry of Energy:
First: It was agreed to adopt a pricing system in dollars, meaning payments would be made in Lebanese pounds but calculated based on the exchange rate in the parallel market.
Second: It was also agreed to raise the fixed price in the tariff through an agreement with the Ministry of Energy regarding the new pricing.
Third: There was an agreement to increase the hours of service from private generators, provided there is mutual understanding between the generator owner and the subscribers. Finally, the attendees directed a message to the Ministry of Energy to cooperate amid these harsh conditions facing generator owners, especially with the global rise in diesel prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate of the dollar in Lebanon. The attendees emphasized the importance of standing by the subscribers who are suffering from similarly harsh economic conditions.
