Barcelona, the runners-up of the Spanish La Liga, announced on Thursday that they have officially reached an agreement to sign Sevilla's French international defender Jules Koundé, without specifying the transfer fee or duration. The Catalan club, which is the most active in the current summer transfer market, stated in a release, "A preliminary agreement has been reached with Sevilla regarding Koundé's transfer. The transfer remains subject to the player's medical examination and contract signing." According to Spanish media, the transfer fee is approximately 50 million euros, plus 10 million in bonuses. Koundé (23 years old) is currently recovering from surgery following an injury to his left thigh. Koundé joined Sevilla in 2019 and has played 133 matches for the Andalusian team, scoring 9 goals and providing 3 assists. He has also represented the French national team in 11 international matches.
