Injury of Two Israeli Police Officers in Stabbing Incident in Jerusalem Settlement

The Israeli police announced that they shot a young man accused of carrying out a stabbing attack in the "Givat Ze'ev" settlement in Jerusalem. According to Israeli media, the young man was injured by police gunfire in his legs, and the police suspect that "the assailant is mentally unstable." The stabbing incident resulted in injuries to two police officers, one of whom is reported to be in "serious" condition.

According to preliminary police investigations, "the incident began when a man displaying signs of mental disturbance started puncturing car tires on Almon Street in Givat Ze'ev. Officers who were called to the scene located the suspect, who had barricaded himself in his apartment," as reported by the "Ma'an" agency.

The investigations further stated, "As police officers approached the apartment, the suspect opened his door and immediately began attacking the officers with a sharp object, resulting in serious injuries to one officer, while another sustained minor injuries." It continued, "In response to the suspect's actions, one of the police officers fired at him, injuring him in the legs," noting that "all three were transferred to Shaare Zedek Hospital."
