Doctors successfully saved the life of a woman in her forties in Egypt who swallowed a toothbrush after undergoing a surgical procedure that lasted 15 minutes. The doctors at the Gastroenterology Department of Shebin El-Kom Educational Hospital in Monufia Governorate extracted the toothbrush from the patient’s esophagus using an endoscope. The woman explained, according to "Youm7" website, that she swallowed the toothbrush voluntarily, refusing to disclose the reason that led her to do so. The medical team that performed the procedure consisted of Dr. Mohamed Salah El-Banna and Dr. Omar Abdel-Maqsoud, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Salah Saif, Head of the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Department at the hospital, who confirmed the successful execution of many therapeutic interventions in the endoscopy unit, supported by the hospital management.
