Saudi Arabia's Reaction to the International Court Ruling

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the ruling issued by the Appeals Chamber of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, which sentenced Hassan Merhi and Hussein Anis to life in prison for their involvement in the assassination of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom's approval in a statement published by the official news agency “WAS,” stating, "Saudi Arabia welcomes the unanimous ruling from the Special Tribunal for Lebanon against two operatives affiliated with the terrorist militia 'Hezbollah' for their role in the terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of twenty-two people, including former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri - may he rest in peace - and injured 226 others."

In the statement, the Kingdom urged "the international community to fulfill its responsibilities towards Lebanon and its brotherly people, who are suffering from the senseless terrorist practices of the Iran-backed militia, to work on implementing the international resolutions concerning Lebanon, to pursue the perpetrators who deliberately contributed to the loss of innocent lives causing unprecedented chaos in this brotherly country, and to arrest them to ensure justice and defuse the crises that Lebanon and its people have experienced over the past few decades due to their terrorist practices."
