Details of the Houkstein Proposal

Informed sources following the U.S. mediator's tour have reiterated that "Amos Hochstein’s visit to Beirut is different from previous ones as he carries an offer for Israel to relinquish the entire Qana field, including the overlapping curves within Israel's territorial waters, and that Israel has agreed to give it up in exchange for a substantial financial compensation." The sources revealed to "Al-Anbaa" newspaper that "Lebanon will inform Hochstein that it cannot commit to paying any financial compensation, regardless of its value, as it considers itself significantly harmed by Israeli practices on its southern borders. If financial compensations are insisted upon by the Israeli side, then the United Nations and the U.S. side, which sponsor these negotiations, should take care of the matter after ensuring that nothing prevents Lebanon from extracting its oil and gas."
