Twitter has announced the reopening of account verification for the blue checkmark to all users after four years of suspension due to disruptions in user policy and privacy. Any user who meets the verification criteria can request to verify their account by going to the settings option via the smartphone app, selecting "Request Verification," filling out the required information, and uploading the necessary documents, then waiting for a response regarding the account verification status.
At the end of last year, Twitter revealed its intention to reopen verification under specific conditions, following a voting process in which the platform requested users to send their suggestions and observations regarding the verification request. Eligible individuals in categories such as journalists, bloggers, activists, or influencers can apply for verification, as well as companies, brands, government accounts, and accounts related to well-known personalities like athletes or video game players.
Users will need to request verification by providing a link to their personal website or links from well-known sites discussing them, or by submitting identification proof such as an ID card or passport, or through an official email associated with an organization. Twitter confirmed that the process takes a few minutes, with responses typically completed within a few days, although the duration may increase based on the volume of requests.
The company indicates that ordinary individuals who are not well-known or famous can also submit a verification request, provided they meet the criteria outlined by Twitter on its official page.
