The UK's National Health Service has announced that the appearance of blemishes on the skin in areas such as the neck, face, and ears may be one of the symptoms of cancer, according to Russia Today. Specifically, the "Express" website reported that this relates to the most common form of cancer, which is basal cell carcinoma.
It often manifests as bumps or red, scaly patches on the skin, frequently dark or brown in color. These formations can sometimes be accompanied by itching, and similar marks to scars may also appear. The agency stated, "The bumps grow slowly and may harden, bleed, or develop into painful ulcers."
Furthermore, it noted that this type of cancer is one of the easiest to treat, as it rarely (less than 5% of cases) spreads to other parts of the body.
