Egyptian security forces unveiled the circumstances surrounding a video circulated on social media showing a motorbike rider dragging two girls and a woman during a mobile phone theft. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated in a post on Facebook: "Upon examination, the victims were identified (two students living in the area, one of whom was found to have abrasions, and a housewife residing in the area, who was found to have a bruise on her back). The father of the girls confirmed the findings when questioned."
It continued: "With ongoing search efforts, the security apparatus of Cairo's Directorate of Security, utilizing modern technologies and tracking the escape route, was able to identify the suspect (a resident of the Ma’asra area). After legal procedures were established, he was arrested, and during interrogation, he confessed to committing the act and directed authorities to the stolen mobile phone with his ill-intentioned accomplice, a driver living in the Ma’asra area."
