The Syndicate of Used Car Importers, led by Eli Qazzi, issued a statement expressing its absolute rejection of raising the customs dollar based on the Sayrafa platform rate. It deemed that such a decision would lead to the bankruptcy of businesses in the sector and the displacement of their employees. The syndicate stated that the discussions around passing such a decision further confirm the authorities' incapacity and failure to manage the country's affairs and confront the economic crisis.
It said, "Today, it is no longer possible to address the crisis and issues in the country piecemeal. We have repeatedly called for the customs dollar to be included in a recovery plan and a set of reform measures so that matters can be in their proper place, and such a decision does not adversely affect the sectors and annihilate what remains of businesses."
The syndicate concluded its statement by reiterating its complete and total rejection of raising the customs dollar rate based on the Sayrafa platform, announcing that it would engage in all forms of protest against such a decision.
