Liver Diseases Also Affect Children

The German Liver Foundation stated that liver diseases also target children, such as viral hepatitis and biliary atresia. The foundation explained that the causes of liver diseases in children are numerous, with the most prominent being the viruses that cause viral hepatitis, such as Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, hormonal disorders, and an unhealthy lifestyle characterized by obesity and lack of physical activity.

The symptoms indicative of these conditions in children include yellowing of the skin and eyes, itching, loss of appetite, pain in the upper right abdomen, dark urine, persistent fatigue, lack of concentration, decreased ability to exert effort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.

The foundation emphasized the importance of consulting a doctor when observing these symptoms for timely treatment to prevent them from becoming chronic, which increases the risk of liver failure, potentially leading to liver transplantation.
