A video captured breath-taking moments when a plane failed to land on one of the runways at Heathrow Airport in London due to strong winds. A British Airways flight arriving from Aberdeen around 10:50 AM on Monday had to abort its landing attempt at the last moment and flew again because of the powerful winds affecting flights at the UK's largest airport. The plane's rear wheels touched the ground before it veered sharply to the left, causing its tail to hit the ground, which forced the pilot to take off again. According to Sky News, the pilot successfully landed the aircraft on the second attempt.
Storm Kori, which swept across the UK over the weekend, brought winds reaching speeds of up to 92 miles per hour. This came after the storm claimed the lives of at least four people in Northern Europe over the weekend, destroyed homes, caused floods, and left thousands of families without electricity. It is noteworthy that Heathrow Airport was used by over 19 million passengers in 2021, which is less than a quarter of the total for the pre-COVID pandemic year, specifically in 2019.
