A prominent Snapchat figure in Saudi Arabia, Yahya Riani, shared a video documenting the story of "Uncle Salem," the oldest tea seller in the Jazan region. In the video, Yahya Riani noted that "Uncle Salem has been working in this profession for 70 years" and is currently 90 years old. He highlighted the simple gathering filled with love where residents of Jazan meet in the local market to enjoy tea.
The footage showed "Uncle Salem" wearing simple clothes and moving with difficulty due to his old age, as he prepared tea and set up the seating and drink holder for customers. Yahya quoted "Uncle Salem" saying that he has been practicing this profession for decades, vividly recalling the era when King Saud assumed power when he was 20 years old. Riani also pointed out that "Uncle Salem" has become a destination for many wanting to enjoy a nice time in informal tea sessions, opening his shop after the afternoon or sunset prayer until 10 PM.
Many social media users re-shared this clip, expressing their sympathy and affection for this elder.
