Egyptian media has revealed details about the illness that led to the death of renowned Egyptian artist Maha Abu Auf, following a severe health crisis in recent hours. Egyptian media confirmed that Abu Auf passed away due to acute pneumonia, a consequence of her battle with lung cancer. Oncology professor Mohamed Saad Al-Ashri stated that lung cancer is a fatal disease affecting the body's most vital part, the lungs, which are responsible for the breathing process; thus, it poses a critical threat to the patient's life.
The annual mortality rate for lung cancer patients is significantly higher than that of cancer diseases such as colon, prostate, lymphatic, and breast cancers combined. Regarding acute pneumonia, which is one of the primary symptoms indicating lung cancer, Dr. Yosri Akel, head of the chest department at Qasr Al-Aini Medical School, Cairo University, stated: "It is an inflammation affecting a part of one or both lungs and is not related to pulmonary fibrosis, with its treatment protocol varying from one case to another."
The Actors' Syndicate in Egypt mourned the esteemed artist Maha Abu Auf inside one of the hospitals in New Cairo, following her battle with cancer, at the age of 65.
