Women, Botox, and the Crisis: Sometimes the Injection Comes Before the Meal!

Women, Botox, and the Crisis: Sometimes the Injection Comes Before the Meal!

Despite the living, financial, and economic crises plaguing Lebanon, appearance remains essential for Lebanese men and women. Lebanon has long been known as the "hospital of the East" due to its distinguished doctors and specialists in various fields, with women, in particular, traveling from various countries to Lebanese cosmetic doctors to enhance their appearance.

In light of this economic crisis, can Lebanese women still care for their appearance as they once did? Cosmetic surgeon Joe Khalife notes that the percentage of women getting Botox and fillers has decreased slightly, by only about 10%. Women who previously visited specialists now often turn to beauty salons for lower costs, despite the potential risks involved.

There are various types of fillers available, including Korean, French, and German options, with prices ranging from $250 to $300, though costs can vary based on product quality.

In simple arithmetic, a filler injection costs around 8 million Lebanese Lira at an exchange rate of 27,000 Lira, while a Botox injection costs over 9 million Lira at the same rate. On the other hand, some women are seeking out pharmacists or dentists for fillers and Botox injections due to lower costs; for instance, while a specialized doctor might charge $200 for a Botox injection, a pharmacist may charge $120.
