According to "Russia Today," a major fire broke out on the night of Saturday to Sunday in the Yarmouk Forest Reserve in the Um Qais area of the Bani Kenanah district in Irbid Governorate, northern Jordan. Local media reported that "Jordanian Civil Defense crews are attempting to extinguish the fire, which has consumed 1,500 dunams of forested land within the reserve, located at the far north of the kingdom, where rugged terrain and strong winds pose significant challenges."
The Yarmouk Forest Reserve encompasses several areas in the district, including Marka, Um Qais, Sahm, and Al-Mansura.
