"Major Scandal" in America: Data Breach Affecting 40 Million Phones

T-Mobile, a telecommunications company in the United States, announced that it has experienced a cyber breach that exposed the information of 40 million users in the country. The company stated that among the leaked information are Social Security Numbers (SSNs), which are used for reporting income to the government and determining eligibility for social security benefits.

The company reported that the data of approximately 7.8 million users are at risk. To reassure users, it said that the data of another 50 million users is not at risk, including phone numbers, accounts, passwords, and financial data. According to the British newspaper "The Guardian," the leaked information in some instances includes the users' first and last names, dates of birth, and driver's license information for current and former subscribers.

The company, which surpassed 100 million users in November, shared the results of an internal investigation following complaints from users that some accessed their data illegally. The company expressed confidence that it could fix the "vulnerability" exploited by the hackers.
