What Will Happen to Those Involved in the Death Boat in Tripoli?

The Legal Committee of the People’s Observatory (Legal Observatory) announced in a statement that it promised "on April 24, 2022, to the families of the victims of the death boat that the crime committed in the territorial waters of Tripoli will not go unpunished and that those involved will be prosecuted." Therefore, we announce to the Lebanese people that legal proceedings have begun through the submission of a complaint to the Appeals Prosecution in coordination with the "Lana" party and several activist lawyers in Tripoli. The legal process has commenced, and we have included the complaint with a supplementary request directed to the Ministry of Justice to refer this crime file to the Judicial Council, aiming for the court's neutrality and enhancing transparency, as well as enabling the prosecution to closely follow the investigation procedures. The committee concluded its statement by saying: "Let it be known that we will not rest until justice is achieved and all criminals are held accountable."
